During a lengthy discussion with God of War director Cory Barlog, it was revealed that the game will run many times longer than the previous entries into the series, at anywhere from 25-35 hours.

Barlog mentioned that he wanted to present the game like a "tour bus" to players, allowing them to stop off and explore while never being too far away from the next boss fight.

Considering how optimistic and generous developers tend to be with their play-time estimates, even if we accept that the game only takes 15-20 hours to complete, that's still decidedly longer than the previous core games in the series, which took around 10 hours each.

And though it was widely expected to be revealed, there's still no release date for the game, and Barlog seemed to insinuate that there's still a decent amount of testing to be done. Basically, a Q1 release almost certainly isn't happening now, and honestly, Q3 seems most probable.
