7. Night In The Woods

Infinite Fall

Night in the Woods is without question one of the funniest and most thoughtful games of the year to date, a surreal spin on the same coming-of-age themes that Life is Strange nailed back in 2015.

Above all else this is an exploration game, which pits the player as a neurotic feline named Mae who returns to her sleepy hometown of Possum Springs, only to learn of a sinister force haunting the town.

There's virtually no difficulty to this game, but instead it's great fun soaking in every available detail of the beautifully-rendered town and these thoroughly charming characters.

The knowingly-cringey humour won't be for all tastes, as it wasn't in Life is Strange, but for anyone who's ever suffered with mental health issues or struggled to adapt to post-college life, there will be plenty here to empathise with.
