12 Biggest Missed Opportunities In Gaming History
5. Metal Gear Solid V's Story
The gameplay of MGS V? Absolutely, 100% spectacular, a genuine new benchmark for open-world interaction, complete with some of the best graphics seen this generation.
The story though? Eeesh. And I'm one of the biggest Metal Gear fans around.
Sadly, come the close of The Phantom Pain, behind the scenes infighting between Hideo Kojima and Konami was too much, forcing a schedule that left an ending with a number of plot threads dangling in the open air.
Despite the fact MGS V was sold as the 'missing link' between the older canon and the new, fans expected to see the advertised "Downfall of Big Boss", which in the actual game, was nowhere to be found.
In the end, everything from swapping out David Hayter for Kiefer Sutherland to Quiet's implementation, the insane resurrection of Colonel Volgin and the lack of a proper ending compounded to make The Phantom Pain the weirdest instalment in MGS' history for all the wrong reasons.
