12 More Enjoyably Dumb Things Gamers Do We Can't Explain
2. Going The Opposite Direction To Where You're Told
In the era of video game handholding being so extreme that for the most part you'll spend the majority of a title looking more at the waypoint on your map than you do the ridiculously detailed world around you, players will still revolt against the path they're "supposed" to take. If you're given the choice to go either left or right and your map is telling you to go one way, it's instinct to check out the other area first.
For the most part this is because the other route is often home to secrets the devs have tucked away, and after all, they wouldn't just put a door to another area that has nothing to find, right?
Well, sometimes "the other way" is home to nothing but a dead end, placed there by the devs to simply create the illusion that the game is less linear than it actually is. Still, even with that knowledge, you've gotta make sure yourself.
