12 Most Bizarre Boss Battles In Video Game History

What deranged minds could've come up with such monstrosities?

Video game Bosses, eh? Can't live with them because they'll just keep killing you, and can't live without them because a video game without bosses is like GTA without explosions. Some leave us smashing our controllers in frustration, others - like the Gaping Dragon from Dark Souls - first look infallible, but can be taken down with deceptive ease. Then there are the weirdos, those oddballs who just don't seem to fit into any definable category of things we've seen before - as if the game developers just spliced together two completely unrelated objects and said 'That's it! We'll turn that into a boss', before cranking up the difficulty to make them memorable that way. Let's face it, most bosses in video games are a bit on the odd side, and seem like the sorts who didn't have many friends at school. This is an amalgamation of the strangest among them; those that seem to have no context in which to exist in their respective games, those that seemingly appeared in a given game from another dimension - and those that are clearly a result of a developers' weird in-joke. Don't underestimate them though. Just because something looks weird, doesn't mean it can't kick your ass, so consider this list a cautionary tale to never treat a boss lightly - even if it has a bulging sack of meat for a face.
