13 Criminally Underrated Marvel Superhero Video Games You Must Play
13. The Amazing Spider-Man
Beenox's first tie-in to the recently deceased Amazing Spider-Man movie series was essentially a total carbon-copy of the Batman Arkham formula, but it was a good carbon-copy. In fact, by keeping the stealth gameplay that was popularised in their other Spidey game, Shattered Dimensions, these movie-licensed efforts offered a variety in gameplay that very few other titles based on the web-head ever have before.
But of course, there's really only one thing you have to nail when it comes to Spider-Man games, and that's the ability to web-swing all around New York City. While it might be blasphemous to say, considering there isn't much skill involved in Beenox's traversal system (webs don't even have to attach to buildings), but The Amazing Spider-Man's web-swinging system is the best to feature in any Spidey game ever.
Sure, it doesn't take much skill to use, but by pulling the camera in close and following Spider-Man all the way down into the deep of New York as he narrowly misses cars and swoops around buildings, Beenox gave web-swinging a cinematic look that felt just as satisfying to play as it was to watch.
If you can get it cheap, this Spidey game is worth it for that alone.
