13 Crucial Questions For 2017's Biggest Video Games
5. Will It Succeed Without Hideo Kojima? - Metal Gear Survive
The Question: With Konami already trotting out their first post-Hideo Kojima Metal Gear game, will this alternate reality zombie shooter live up to the franchise's celebrated legacy, or be a glorified cash-in?
The Likely Answer: A lot of this really depends on the price point. Konami have promised it will cost less than $60, and will hopefully retail for around $30, the same price tag they charged for Ground Zeroes a few years ago.
As for the game itself? The actual mechanics should be decent enough given that it's running on MGS V's Fox Engine, and the co-op multiplayer aspect has a certain allure, though don't expect it to be something people are talking about for long after release.
It'll come and go, probably not embarrass itself, but not be an especially memorable effort either. It'll make its money, though, which is clearly Konami's primary concern.
