13 Horror Video Games To Play Before You Die

7. Outlast

Taking inspiration from the found footage genre, Outlast took control of shaky cam and night vision and weaponised it against players, throwing them into a first person hellhole populated by psychiatric patients suffering from some particularly homicidal tendencies. Playing as investigative journalist Miles Upshur, you take a camera and your wits into a dilapidated hospital and attempt to excise the truth - no matter how painful or at what cost to your personal being.

The second offering of Outlast was another great entry to the series, but for the sheer groundbreaking horror of the original, it has to be one to go on the list for its disgusting, disorientating, unrelenting gameplay. Save your batteries, guys, as you don't want to be in the dark on this one.
