13. Companies Showing Up, Despite Having Nothing To Show

At just half an hour long, Square Enix's 2018 presentation was emblematic of a more longstanding issue. E3 is such an institute of gaming that it is almost mandatory for people to show up, regardless of what they've got to show.

Last year it was Bethesda, who didn't have much to say beyond a few minor announcements, yet it dragged on for an hour. There is almost an obligation for developers to turn up and "make waves" even if it's more ticking a box than anything more meaningful.

For 2018, unfortunately Square Enix fell into this bracket. They may have had the intention of showcasing a lot, but they ultimately fell flat. It made watching such a stilted presentation incredibly annoying.
