I included the above recommendations for each game as a light guide towards certain tastes and sensibilities, but Salt & Sanctuary is such a loving tribute to Dark Souls, its mechanics and even its UI, you have to wonder how developers Ska Studios avoided a lawsuit.
Regardless, gameplay is as brutally unforgiving as you'd expect, but if you can bear the brunt of such a harsh approach, you'll still get the same "OH THANK GOD" feeling when toppling the various intimidating bosses.
Make no mistake, this is more Souls than a meme about 'praising the sun'; Salt and Sanctuary is the nearest thing to what Demon's/Dark Souls may have looked like had it released two decades ago, with all the charm and appeal that comes alongside.
