Gaming's big moment for blockbuster production meeting one of the most carefully crafted stories ever created, with an ending that - as far as we can tell - is completely original in its execution, especially when you factor in the way the whole thing is revealed. Not only that, but creative director Neil Druckmann managed to give us a final shot that tells you everything you need to know about that particular character, whilst pulling an Inception and lingering just enough to allow multiple interpretations to exist - all from the expression on a girl's face. The Last of Us' apocalyptic tale of substantial (and frequent) losses with occasionally tiny victories manages to touch upon one of the biggest questions ever posed - what would you do for someone you truly care about? - and does it in a manner that'll stay with you forever after finishing. It's not just the ending that keeps people talking, it's everything from the gut-punch intro to the lonely middle chapter and one of the most satisfying "villain-gets-their-comeuppance" scenes we've ever seen. The Last of Us truly is a masterpiece, and although it can sometimes be tiring hearing everybody on the verge of tears trying to describe just how much it moved them, when everything is as masterful as this, it fully deserves every word.
