14 Incredible Video Game Stories You'll Never Stop Discussing

7. Spec-Ops: The Line

Daring to go where few games in the genre ever do, Spec-Ops' tale of one soldier's torment as he finds his surroundings appear to be more and more familiar is one of the best unravelling narratives of the last decade. Sadly the overall production value lets this down in terms of very average graphics and gameplay that came across as a lite version of Gears of War - but to focus on that is to miss the point entirely. Scratching away at the surface you'll notice things like your character's melee animation gradually getting more brutal and sadistic as events unfold, along with the game itself making an incredibly poignant comment on any player's nature to just use the most destructive weapon to hand in a certain scene involving incendiary white phosphorus grenades.
