2. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

Square Enix

Oh yeah, another Deux Ex game is coming this year!

Sadly, Square Enix almost smothered this before it was out, thanks to an 'augment your pre-order' PR campaign that encouraged as many people as possible to blindly put down money for a copy, simply under the assumption that eventually, we'd all reap the rewards.

You can guarantee some PR exec got a raise that day... only for it to be retracted the week after.

Anyway, Mankind Divided looks phenomenal, a continuation of where Human Revolution left off, with the various denizens of the world receiving all manner of biological 'augments' to their limbs and mental faculties, sparking a cultural divide in the process.

Its comment on society's own inability to deal with other human forms (colour, creed, transgender, etc.) may be heavy-handed, but it's one that no other games on its level are even attempting. Back that all up with a solid RPG progression, immaculate world-building and powers that look like a Matrix fan's dream come true, and you've got a winner.
