7. Victreebel Is A Pitcher Plant

What Is It?

These meat-eating plants have specially adapted leaves designed to trap all kinds of insects and even sometimes small birds and mammals. Contained in the belly of the pitcher is a digestive fluid that breaks down the bodies of the plants' unfortunate victims and makes their nutrients easier to absorb.

Fun Fact:

Despite their propensity for slowly and horribly dissolving anything that gets too close, some species of pitcher plant are actually used as cosy daytime roosts for some species of bat. Rather than getting the bat for dinner, the plants eat their, er, poop instead, which is rich in nitrogen. Delicious.
