Another one for the "We just had to get used to it" pile, Modern Warfare is now regarded as one of the most influential and important shooters of all time... with a character called 'Soap' at the helm. It's the first time such a ludicrously off-kilter name has appeared in a serious context since Denzel Washington played a hitman called 'Creasy' in Man on Fire.

After being one of the main protagonists for multiple entries in the series, Soap was finally brought down in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, immortalising him as one of the best characters of all time. It's just a shame about that name.
