The issue of difficulty can be a sticky one in gaming these days. Whilst most titles from the 1980s or 90s offered up some truly tough tests - consider how beating Ocarina Of Time earned players in the late 90s appreciative nods from other gamers - more recent games have started to pander a little too much towards tease of access and the potential for sequels. See Assassin's Creed, for example. Fortunately, not all developers have bowed to this tendency, and games like Dark Souls, Trials, Super Meat Boy and more have begun to achieve worldwide recognition and even cult status for their gruelling challenge. Players are even actively seeking out such nigh-on impossible adventures because of it. But developers have been walking the tightrope of how difficult they should make their games for years, and it's perhaps the middle ground that has led to the creation of some staggeringly underwhelming enemies, even in so-called tougher titles. While we may balk at the paltry challenge they offer at the beginning of their respective titles, there's nevertheless a unique aspect of danger each time you're facing something you know you should be able to kill. Scarcely does a failure hit as hard as when a player has their progress halted by such a pathetic piece of cannon fodder... Though they may present significant threats to the gamer's ego, they are undeniably weak and useless as enemies go. It's time then, to take a look at fifteen of the best - or perhaps worst - of these hilariously useless enemies.
