Back in 2005, something game-changing happened; the Xbox 360 brought with it achievements and Gamerscore - a feature Sony would mimic in 2008 when they added Trophy support to the Playstation 3. Something about this just grabbed certain gamers; they simply needed to complete every last optional goal for a given game. Honestly, for those it does resonate with, there's something weirdly addicting about seeing your completion numbers grow and your Gamerscore rise higher and higher with each title played - especially if you're competing with friends. Sure, there are a lot of gamers out there who don't understand the point of going for every last achievement, especially if it's not enjoyable. They play games simply for that reason; to enjoy the gameplay and the story. While I admit I have no good reasoning as to why I go for everything one-by-one, I will tell you I enjoy around 90% of it. Every gamer has their thing - many take to speed-running or building sky-high settlements in Fallout 4 - and for some of us, it's that beautiful 100% completion stat. While there are definitely hardcore completionists out there who won't play a game unless they have a chance of getting 100% from day one, there are certain, shall we say, 'qualms' and joys that come from achievement hunting across the board. Here are the things that will fill completionists with joy, and some that still tear us down with complete and utter rage.
15. Having Your 100% Stat Taken Away By DLC
In gaming today, you'd be hard-pressed to find something that doesn't have some sort of downloadable content planned for the future. With DLC comes new areas of some sort, and most of the time comes with new achievements. Now, if you've already put in the time to get every single achievement/trophy in a game, DLC is going to do its best to ruin that. Hell, sometimes games will just add achievements with a title update for no reason and you'll have to revisit it, just get that completion back - here's looking at you, Sunset Overdrive. While the more Gamerscore the better (obviously) it can still be such a pain to see that beautiful 100% taken away from you out of nowhere.
