Multiplayer third-person shooter Splatoon looks to be one of the more unique IPs hitting the Wii U in the foreseeable future, allowing up to 8 players to take each other on in team-based matches. Players control Inklings, who can switch between human and squid form at a moment's notice: as humans, they must cover the map in as much of their team's ink as possible (while splattering an enemy with ink essentially kills them), and as a squid, they can roll around in the ink and replenish their supplies. From what's been shown off so far, this just looks like an insane amount of fun, as long as the multiplayer community exists to support it. A clever way to move into the shooter market without resorting to boring military simulation, Splatoon has all the makings of a hit franchise, a unique spin on the genre with a wicked sense of strategy and spritely visuals to boot.
