15. The PS2's Design Actually Originated In The Early 90s
In the words of the Foo Fighters "We all come from what's come before", and nowhere is this more apt than when looking at the best selling console of all time; the PS2. The story goes that when Atari were going bust, they were still working on a new console, a followup to the Atari Falcon030 - this time titled the 'Microbox'. Sony purchased the patent in the downfall and later used it for the PS2 - the similarities are immediate, and helped with that console's aesthetic as a weighty bit of kit we all loved having in our homes.
