1. Red Dead Redemption 2
Well duh, of course Rockstar's industry-conquering series has taken the top spot.

The original game was universally lauded for the lengths it went to in capturing the authenticity of the Old West period, backed up by terrific voice acting and a protagonist who is quite possibly the most realistically-written video game character ever.
We've still got a very long wait ahead of us until Red Dead Redemption 2 sees a release, and while Rockstar's pegged the sequel for a 2017 release, delays have become almost part and parcel for the developer.

Assuming everything goes according to plan, though, this time next year we could be back in the saddle. Literally.
