Knowing you're dropping in, just you against 100 players (unless you're playing in a team), scavenging to survive and then being herded into various kill-boxes thanks to the forever-shrinking map - there's no rush that matches winning a match of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds.

Finally releasing on Xbox One at the tail-end of the year, we won't know the full impact of PUBG on the console space until 2018 kicks in. Still, as we're seeing from games like GTA V, Fortnite and many more factoring in their own battle royale modes, this is one hell of a genre, and one hell of a series of mechanics that can only be built on from here on in.
