Developers Remedy have been away the whole 'dudes in trench coats' aesthetic for too long, as firstly Max Payne single-handedly gave everyone the Matrix-style bullet-dodging experience they were crying out for back in 2001, only for a spectacular sequel to do it again and Twin Peaks-influenced Alan Wake to bring the horror thrills in 2010. Since then they've been relatively quiet - save for some DLC for Mr. Wake - and then last year we found out why; they're developing a full TV series to go alongside this newest time-bending tale, apparently telling both sides of the story at any point depending on if you want to play or watch a particular character's perspective.
It's a very neat idea, and when the gameplay itself seems to be a return to the more gung-ho sensibilities of the first two 'Payne titles - and the fact your character will be freezing time during set-pieces and exploring things like wreckage an debris as it hangs in mid-air, this could have all the right signature elements to be another fantastic franchise-starter.
