11. The Original Roster Is Arranged In Chronological Order
When Super Smash Bros. was being developed, which Nintendo characters to be included hadnt quite been determined yet. Characters were added as they went along, and the order in which they were added can be found in the character select screen.

Thats right, the original eight fighters are arranged in the order they were added to the game, starting from the top left and onward to the right. Mario was the first to be added (obviously), followed by Donkey Kong, Link, Samus, Yoshi, Kirby, Fox, and finally Pikachu. The unlockable characters are also arranged this way; Luigi is first, followed by Captain Falcon, Ness, and Jigglypuff.
