8. Star Fox 2 Is Officially Released...22 Years After It Was Cancelled
When Nintendo unveiled the widely-expected SNES Classic Edition, they made the shock announcement that Star Fox 2, a game originally intended for release in 1995 but ultimately cancelled, would be among the mini-console's playable titles.

Nintendo didn't even inform the game's original dev team about the decision, though they were thankfully enthralled to learn their game would finally be reaching players.
As it turned out, Star Fox 2 received fairly mixed notices from most major outlets, but it was still a victory for gamers that they no longer needed to resort to playing leaked ROMs of the game.
