20 Announced Video Games You Won't Play For YEARS
20. Cyberpunk 2
CD Projekt Red's hugely anticipated follow-up to their mega-hit FPS Cyberpunk 2077 was initially introduced as "Project Orion" in 2022, though it wasn't until May 2025 that the game entered pre-production and was officially referred to as Cyberpunk 2.
Last May, CD Projekt Red co-CEO MichaĆ Nowakowski responded to claims that the game might not release until 2030 or 2031, and while Nowakowski chose his words carefully, he confirmed a production cycle of four-to-five years, before adding that an early 2030s release seemed realistic.
At the very end of 2025, Polish analytics firm Noble Securities did their own research and estimated that players wouldn't get hands-on with Cyberpunk 2 until Q4 2030.
Considering the numerous other high-profile projects the studio has in the oven right now - one of which we'll get to later - as well as the expected scope and production quality of Cyberpunk 2, this certainly seems like a plausible timeframe.
