13. Meeting Wheatley - Portal 2

The first Portal was a technical, mind-bending marvel, but the sequel, man, that was something else entirely.

Waking up in this otherwise nondescript bedroom, first talking to Wheatley (a character with Stephen Merchant as possibly the best voice-only performance in the history of video games), then being forced out of this 'comfort' and down into Aperture Science's labs, ready to battle your way to survival.

Portal 2 would go on to be one of Valve's absolute best games; something born from an initial tech demo, only for a clear passion to be applied when it came to conceptualising a sequel. Cave Johnson, fan theories, GLaDOS' 'potato scene' and that moon-tickling ending - it's a phenomenal game, but one you can feel the quality of right from the get-go.
