The Oddworld series is a beloved franchise mostly known for its flagship title, Abe’s Oddysee.

Each Oddworld game is set in the series’ unique universe full of strange creatures and complete with enough lore to write a whole saga.

Before Oddworld made its return with a remake of Abe’s Oddysee and a sequel in 2014 and 2021, respectively, the franchise released four games in total. The final title in this cycle, Stranger's Wrath, is easily the most interesting in terms of its premise, and yet at the time of its release, it was a total commercial failure that contributed to Oddworld fading into obscurity for the next nine years.

Unlike other Oddworld games, which focused on alien creatures escaping their inhuman working conditions, Stranger’s Wrath took the series in a completely different direction, allowing you to play as a mysterious bounty hunter in the less civilized part of Oddworld.

This Western-inspired title featured in-depth bounty-hunting gameplay and gunfighting combat that was not only unique to Oddworld but also to the entire gaming industry in general.

The game could’ve easily fostered a hype for the Wild West five years before Red Dead Redemption, but due to EA’s poor marketing, Stranger’s Wrath couldn’t even break even in sales.
