OK, the game is set in Renaissance Italy, and Mario is Italian, but that's no excuse for perhaps the clunkiest, most jarring reference in the history of the entire series. I mean, it doesn't even make sense, and it also somewhat negates the dramatic impact of the characters' reunion.
