10. Shao Kahn (Mortal Kombat 9)

Mortal Kombat 9€™s story mode sees you play as many of the diverse characters the game has to offer. NetherRealm Studios€™ excellent fighting game has a surprisingly compelling story in a genre known for their repetitive, predictable and highly forgettable narratives. At one stage, you have just witnessed Shao Kahn snap the neck of your friend Kung Lao and you are forced to fight him yourself as Liu Kang. Kang is a perfectly usable fighter generally speaking but in this battle you just feel completely outclassed. This fight is inappropriately difficult with the Internet littered with a copious amount of €˜how to€™ articles advising you on the best strategy to best the Emperor of Outworld. Kahn€™s attacks do a tonne of damage and he is able to chain together powerful moves easily, making him hard to break. He also seems to have a penchant for spamming his favourite moves, utilising projectiles, a big hammer and an x-ray move capable of taking out the majority of your health bar. Shao Kahn has been the bane of many a fighting game players€™ lives and his appearance in the story mode of Mortal Kombat 9 is one of the most difficult fighting game bosses ever. You face him again in the game€™s climax but that encounter was incomparable to this hellish fight. WhatCulture Tip: Be the worst type of fight game player €“ a spammer. Use Liu Kang€™s projectile fire ball attack to your advantage. You gotta do what you gotta do.
