20 Most Frustratingly Difficult Video Game Levels Of All Time

2. Battletoads - Turbo Tunnel

Battletoads is a game which has quite rightfully established a reputation for itself as being uncompromisingly tough, resulting in many gamers taking out their frustrations on their innocent NES console. Some may argue that it isn€™t difficult at all €“ it€™s impossible. This isn€™t true though; we€™ve seen youtube evidence documenting supernaturally skilled players completing it. You play as mutant frogs who are referred to as €“ as you may have guessed €“ Battletoads. These Battletoads are on a mission to rescue their kidnapped amphibian friends and defeat the Dark Queen on her planet. A number of levels in this 1991 game seemed unfairly hard, but Turbo Tunnel and the demands it made of the ill-fated gamer has to get the nod. In this particular level of the extremely complex game you get given some manner of bike to spice up the gameplay. While on this bike you must avoid obstacles that are hurtling towards you at the speed of light. You get hit, you die. This near impossible mission is only the third level of the game, meaning that surviving it won€™t even result in the reward of completing the game. Battletoads made us question when a game ceases to be fun and starts feeling like an agonising form of toad-filled torture. WhatCulture Tip: Completeing Turbo Tunnel is a time investment €“ put in an inordinate amount of time and you MIGHT be rewarded by completing it. Don€™t try and overcomplicate matters with a strategy, it simply won€™t help.
