The Bitmap Brothers make yet another appearance on the list with their vision of this futuristic and violent ice hockey/handball/american football hybrid. Drawing inspiration from James Caans 1975 movie Rollerball, Speedball was a brutal sport that rewarded teams for causing horrible injuries to the opposing sides players - awesome. The game also incorporated an excellent transfer market that was the perfect complement to the main game itself. There was even the ability to upgrade your players attributes, meaning you could tailor your team to exactly the way you wanted it. Speedball 2 played like a dream. It also had longevity due to its various modes: knockout, league, cup, and a multiplayer to boot. It may have been a sport the Bitmap Brothers came up with, but it was still one of the greatest sporting games ever released on the Amiga.
