20 Hilarious Video Game Mechanics You Didn't Know Existed

18. War Crier's Special Dialogue - Mad Max

The 2015 Mad Max game is a surprisingly decent open-world game with plenty of enemies and locations that make the postapocalyptic Australia feel more immersive. There is even one hidden mechanic that happens when you do a very specific and unlikely thing, whose sole purpose is to add some flavor to one of the game’s hostiles.

The war crier hostiles are a unique type of enemy in Mad Max that rile up the other members of their gang. On their own, the war criers are completely useless, but when they are surrounded by their allies, they will constantly try to mock you as you fight.

If you are tired of the war crier’s roasts and want to give them their comeuppance, there is actually a hidden solution for it. If you manage to kill all of the regular hostiles and leave only the war crier alive, the man will not attack you, and instead of mocking you, he will start to beg for his life and make excuses for why he was so mean to you earlier.

War criers are the only NPCs in the game to do this, so the mechanic is clearly designed to give players the satisfaction of not only shutting up their biggest hater but also making him take his words back.
