20 Major Video Games You Forgot Were Happening
3. Hideo Kojima's OD
Hideo Kojima and Xbox first announced the bizarre horror project OD during The Game Awards in 2023. The eccentric video game developer confirmed he was working with movie director Jordan Peele on what he described as a completely different kind of game. In true Kojima style, the teaser showed off almost nothing- just 3 characters, Sophia Lillis, Udo Kier and Hunter Schafer, repeating a bunch of words looking increasingly more alarmed by....something.
Since then, the project has been kept closely guarded, and even for Kojima's standards, the amount of mystery surrounding the entire thing has been huge. Kojima Productions released another teaser in 2025, showcasing what appears to be first person gameplay, as Lillis' character is seen lighting some candles in a small room before she screams and is grabbed by something with unusually large hands.
Things are definitely progressing now, though. Kojima himself confirmed in September 2026 that development was progressing smoothly and production was proceeding on schedule. What that schedule actually is, though, and exactly why OD is so different to other horror games, remains to be seen.
