20 Major Video Games You Forgot Were Happening
20. Marvel's Iron Man
The character of Iron Man found a new lease of life when Robert Downey Jr.'s starring role as the insanely rich, quick-witted titular hero Tony Stark introduced him to a brand new audience in 2008. It also kick-started the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which went on to dominate the global box office for the next decade, ushering in a whole new era of superhero popularity.
Naturally, the release of Marvel's Spider-Man in 2018 reminded gamers just how good Marvel superhero games could actually be, and many fans began asking the question: when are we getting an Iron Man game? Tony Stark seemed to be crying out for his own standalone game, and finally, in 2022, developer EA Motive answered the call when a single player, 3rd person action adventure game called Marvel's Iron Man was announced.
Since then, though, things have been pretty quiet. In early 2023, EA Motive confirmed development was underway. In mid-2024, the studio confirmed it was making strong progress. Aside from that, though, and some job openings which fans have used to try and guess other details of the project, there's been no trailers, no footage, nothing. At least, until August of this year, when a 2.5 minute video showing Iron Man flying through a city and taking on enemies both on the ground and in the air was seemingly leaked. EA Motive confirmed the footage was real that same month, and promised there was more to show soon, leaving fans hopeful more news is on the way.
