Also known as Beyond Oasis in the States, The Story of Thor can stake a claim for being one of the best Action-RPGs of its era. Sporting a combat system that was surprisingly flexible - with a host of special moves and various spirits that you could summon - and a stunningly realised world, the game offered something with a little more depth than many other Megadrive titles.

Ancient did a superb job with the game and ended up releasing a sequel on the Saturn, which was just as good but got even less recognition. Thankfully, the game has since turned up on a number of Megadrive collections and is also available on the Virtual Console, if the asking price for an original cartridge seems a little bit much.
