20 MORE Video Game Bosses That Forced You To CHEAT

3. CPU Players - Mario Kart 64

Even though rubber-banding in racing games is annoying, it is a necessary evil. The mechanic allows computer-controlled racers to catch up with human players no matter what in order to maintain the challenge. However, it's still unfair since the CPU racers drive more efficiently than humanly possible.

And few racing titles take advance of this mechanic more than Mario Kart 64. Even if you play flawlessly and dodge every projectile, you can still lose because the CPU players drive faster than your top speed.

The AI is more outrageous on 150cc Mode, since the other racers are less effected by hazards, so they recover faster from spins and ignore terrain slowdowns. They follow predefined paths that let them dodge seemingly impossible obstacles, like the vehicles in Toad's Turnpike.

With this in mind, players are inclined to take a shortcut to even the odds. And we're not talking about obvious shortcuts that the developers intended. We mean the ultra-shortcuts that chop out most of the track. There are shortcuts in Frappe's Snowland and DK Raceway which are surprisingly easy to pull off and allow players to skip an entire lap.

By using a certain exploit, all three laps of Wario Stadium can be completed in under 15 seconds, which would normally take over six minutes.

If these shortcuts are executed perfectly, victory is basically guaranteed.
