At a time where the survival horror genre was slowly fading out of existence, Dead Space came and brought it kicking and screaming into the hearts of the masses once more.

Overwhelmingly dark and atmospheric, Dead Space features Isaac Clarke's struggle to survive on a powerless interstellar mining ship, which also happens to be overrun by reanimated mutated corpses, known as the Necromorphs.

It's gory, it's bleak and it's oh-so satisfying - blowing the limbs off of Necromorphs is pure strategic pleasure. Visceral's giant leap for survival horror turned into one hell of a game.
