20 Most Embarrassing Video Game Moments Of The Decade
6. SimCity 2013's Broken Launch
It's almost like this decade was a magnet for disastrous launches. It seems like never before had we seen so many games fail to work when they were released, and Simcity in 2013 was one of the worst of them, however not THE worst.
When the game launched it had immense server issues - surprise, surprise. Along side these server issues came the absolute inability to play the game. See, when a game has server issues at launch you're normally still able to play the game offline and enjoy it by yourself.
However, that was not the case with this game. The game required a network connection just to be able to play and save the game. There was also crashing, disconnections and loss of save data that plagued players. After 10 updates, yes 10 updates, users were finally able to play the game in an offline mode. EA would offer early purchasers of Simcity a free game in March 2013 from a very small and select list of games. Fans were so unhappy that they filed a petition on the official White House website for "an industry-wide return policy for video games that rely on remote servers and DRM to function properly." It's safe to say people were pissed off.
