The sequel to the most expensive game of its time, Shenmue II was made (only 2 years later) for over $100 million more than the original.

Again the game received acclaim but again didn't sell as well as hoped, despite also being on Xbox. Hopes of a Shenmue III are slim but Kickstarter is a "possibility" apparently.
