20 Most Underrated Video Games Of The Generation (So Far)

20. Mass Effect Andromeda

Despite taking a beating when it first released and becoming the subject of countless memes overnight, the latest instalment into the Mass Effect series was nowhere near as bad as it was made out to be.

In fact, once it eventually got going and gave you the tools needed to explore its open worlds, Andromeda was pretty damn good.

Featuring the best combat of the franchise so far, the general minute-to-minute action was better than ever. When you were left to craft your own stories, finding side missions and interacting with characters on uncharted planets, it was easy to lose hours and whole nights to Andromeda's brand of sandbox gameplay.

And while the main story wasn't quite up to par with the other releases in the franchise, it was still enjoyable enough in its own right. Kicking off a brand new universe isn't easy, but the developers did a pretty decent job at creating a new mythology for fans to get stuck into.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is still a thoroughly enjoyable game at heart, and some dodgy animations shouldn't make you think it isn't.
