12. The Legend of Zelda Wii U's Open World Doesn't Work
Release Date: TBA The Hype: The first new Zelda game for the Wii U (and possibly Nintendo's upcoming NX platform) is planning to change the game considerably, offering up a massive open-world and non-linear gameplay like the series has never seen before. Oh, and it's got gorgeous cel-shaded graphics to boot. Why It Might Suck: Though Zelda rarely disappoints, the hype machine could definitely damage this one. More likely, though, is that it becomes a victim of its own ambition: upping the scale and presenting the player with more choice could result in an experience that either feels empty or messy, especially as the series hasn't attempted an open world of this size before. It's hard to imagine the game being outright terrible, but don't be surprised if it's merely good rather than the tear-inducing masterpiece we all want to further justify our owning a Wii U in the first place.
