5. Star Wars: Battlefront Is Just Battlefield Re-Skinned
Release Date: November or December The Hype: The first Battlefront game in a decade, this reboot-cum-sequel will be hoping to exploit Star Wars nostalgia ahead of The Force Awakens' release, reportedly combining the third-person multiplayer warfare of the original game with more familiar first-person shooter mechanics. The first gameplay footage was shown off at a private event last month and apparently received a "superb ovation", while the first public gameplay trailer will hit the web on April 17th. Why It Might Suck: Given the reasonable expectation from fans that Battlefront would be a third-person shooter, it's a tad worrying that EA have largely implied that it will be a first-person shooter for the most part, suggesting it could just be a re-skinned version of their Battlefield series. While that'll do a basic enough job, it would demonstrate that the publisher isn't taking the Star Wars property very seriously and just wants to churn out a lazy product for a cheap profit. Hopefully that rapturous reception to early gameplay is reflected by fans when the footage is out in the wild.
