20. Peak

Peak is the sort of game that some would be quick to label “friendslop” or “streamer bait,” but this cooperative climbing game became an overnight sensation through its sheer fun factor.

The concept of Peak is simple: reach the top of a mountain with your friends. In order to succeed, you’ll need to manage a stamina bar by resting, eating, and avoiding injuries and other debuffs like poison.

Despite having zero promotion, Peak quickly soared in popularity after its release in June 2025. Within a month, sales had hit five million copies, and by August it had sold over ten million. The game was nominated for Best Multiplayer Game at The Game Awards, and received five nominations at the Golden Joysticks, winning two of them.

What made Peak such a success is just how fun it is to play with your friends — silly physics paired with genuine strategy are a winning combination, and, let’s face it, hearing your friend’s scream drop in and out over proximity chat as they fall into the abyss is undeniably hilarious.
