20 Ridiculously Low Game Ratings You Won’t Believe

15. Dragon Quest Heroes: 77 (PS4)

Dragon Quest Heroes is pretty new, but it€™s been out in Japan for a few months now. However, it€™s already in the sub-80 category. An action RPG, DQH is a beat-em-up style take on the Dragon Quest franchise. It features all of the hacking and slashing of a Koei Warrior game, but with a real RPG progression system, towns, and dungeons. The characters are all drawn from the various Dragon Quest games too, giving it large crossover appeal. While it may sound kind of trite or boring, it actually comes together in a way that works really well with the Dragon Quest franchise. It's a solid "A" game. Yet, many seemingly find it to be pretty okay, they just rate it as a 7 out of 10. Here€™s the problem with number based rating systems. Once you go past X out of 5 you get confusing scores like 7.5 out of 10. What does that mean, €œkind of above average€? Then Metacritic translates that into a 75 out of 100, which makes it go from what is slightly above average to a score that suggests a mediocre product when in fact it€™s a highly recommendable game according to the reviewers.
