Valheim is a Viking-themed survival game. A big aspect of the title is building a base for yourself, as you will need a roof over your head to craft items, rest, and perform many other activities necessary for your survival.

To make things difficult, however, once you establish a base, the game will occasionally send raids at it that will attempt to destroy everything you own.

And while you could use the game’s toughest defense structures to keep yourself protected, the best way to never have to worry about raids is simply to use dirt.

Although late-game materials are very hard to break, the only thing that the mobs in the game can’t destroy at all is the very ground you walk on. Knowing this, you can use the hoe tool to create an indestructible dirt wall around your base by raising the ground to the point where you can’t climb it, and this will effectively prevent every non-flying creature in the game from breaching it.

The method is not only great at preventing raids from wrecking your stuff, but it’s also easy to do and incredibly cost-effective.
