6. Stranger Than Heaven

RGG Studio continues to prove themselves one of the most impressively productive developers operating today, while still managing to deliver consistently high quality releases.

And next up is Stranger Than Heaven, a distant prequel to the Yakuza/Like a Dragon franchise which follows a Japanese-American protagonist, Makoto Daito, across five different decades from 1915 to 1965 as he seeks out a new life in Japan and eventually founds the series' iconic Tojo Clan.

Like a Dragon fans should expect something a little different from the usual, with a grittier, more grounded approach to combat and more serious-minded tone compared to the shameless goofiness of the core franchise.

In addition to its far-spanning timeline, the game is also set across five cities - Fukuoka, Hiroshima, Osaka, Shizuoka, and Tokyo - making it the biggest and most sprawling title yet produced by RGG. 

And if you're still not sold, it also co-stars Snoop Dogg as a smuggler called Orpheus, because why the heck not?
