20. The Blood of Dawnwalker

An open-world action RPG from new studio Rebel Wolves, The Blood of Dawnwalker places itself in 14th-century Europe, offering players the chance to dive into the past in a gothic, vampire-infested story.

Touching down in the fictional 14th-century kingdom of Vale Sangora, somewhere in the Carpathian Mountains (where, funnily enough, Dracula’s castle is located), we take on the role of Coen, a Blade-like half-breed who is human by day and vampire by night. In an all-out fight to save Coen’s family from a ruling cabal of vampires and their overlord Brencis, the direction of the story, and whether things move towards the dark or the light, will be shaped by our actions and decisions at the helm.

The game draws heavily on Eastern European folklore, as well as the gothic tradition of Western Europe, and - if early trailers are anything to go by - makes best use of the talents of Konrad Tomaszkiewicz, director of The Witcher 3 and head of production for Cyberpunk 2077. This is Tomaszkiewicz’s first game since leaving CD Projekt in 2021, and with a 90-person team at his back, things are looking promising.

The game is scheduled to be released on the PlayStation 5, Windows and Xbox Series X/S in 2026.
