20 Video Games That Are About To Make A HUGE Comeback

11. Super Meat Boy 3D

Super Meat Boy was a monstrous hit, thanks to its responsive controls, retry-friendly levels, and precise gameplay. For this reason, it's easy to see why this brutally difficult indie is directly responsible for popularising masocre platformers.

Although the sequel, Super Meat Boy Forever, garnered a lot of hype, it abandoned the tight platforming in favour of an auto-running format, which felt restrictive and less skill-based.

As a result, some veterans are worried 2026's Super Meat Boy 3D will fail to capture the spirit of the first game, especially since it's discarded its side-scrolling structure.

But the 3D transition isn't necessarily a bad thing, since the threequel is set to maintain the tight controls and precise jumps that defined the original.

Also, bringing the core concept into 3D allows for more complex level design and spatial puzzles, giving players new ways to engage with the mechanics. The graphics should also expand the variety of enemies, obstacles, and level themes, allowing for more creative gameplay.

Even though Super Meat Boy Forever almost killed the franchise, Super Meat Boy 3D could bring it back bigger than ever.
