Baldur's Gate 2 features a huge list of recruitable companions, some of which have a better attitude than others.

The wizard Edwin might be the most hateable out of your followers, as he's not only a huge megalomaniac, considering himself the smartest person alive, but also a horrible misogynist.

That's why some players deliberately fail to complete a certain mission, because it's the only way to humble Edwin for good.

During his personal side quest to find the Nether scroll that will turn him into an even more powerful wizard, Edwin is accidentally turned into a woman. The spell turns out to be permanent, much to Edwin's dismay, as he believes women to be inferior to him (along with everyone else, really).

Towards the end of the quest, Edwin finds a way to reverse the spell, but this part of the quest is secretly on a timer, and if you fail to do it on time, Edwin will be stuck as a woman forever, forced to live the rest of his days from the perspective of those he kept mercilessly belittling.

Yeah, failing this part of the quest is probably for the better. After all, there's nothing quite like humbling a stuck-up, chauvinistic mage.
