20 Weirdest Licensed Video Games EVER

18. Shrek (Xbox)

A millennial cultural touchstone if there ever was one, Shrek has been living in the hearts and minds of thirty-somethings for well over two decades now - yes, you did read that correctly - but despite the widespread love for the jolly green ogre, his first ever foray into the world of video games remains an illusive and highly confusing oddity.

Taking inspiration from what appears to be anything but the Dreamworks film, this bizarre puzzle-platformer tasks Shrek with various odd missions that require him to make the best of use his natural skills - which in this case consists of burping, farting and pummelling those around him with a furious flurry of fists. None of which really relates to the film it's based on, with very few of the iconic characters or locations being here.

For its time, it was a technical marvel, showing off what the original Xbox was capable of in terms of graphics and physics, but unfortunately it offered very little for fans. It instead exists as a strange footnote in a franchise that's already up to its neck in left-field footnotes, and delving into the world of weird Shrek games would require a dedicated list of its own.
